Chapter 88 Did You Love Me?
I was taken aback for a moment, but quickly realized, Carley’s birthday feast was approaching, and the uncles, aunts, and younger generations of the Hinton family had all returned.
Carley had three sons, excluding Walter’s father, there were two uncles. The Hinton family had expanded their business over the years, and had also developed quite a few a*sets abroad. Therefore, Walter’s two uncles and cousins had all been traveling in various foreign countries.
Now that Carley’s birthday banquet had arrived, uncles from abroad naturally flew back one after another to celebrate their old mother’s birthday.
Thus, it wasn’t without reason that Carley was so eager to drive Ashley out of the old house. Although the house was large, it ultimately belonged to the Hinton family. With Ashley, a person of unclear reputation, living in Walter’s yard, he would inevitably be seen. Once seen, people would speculate, discuss, and inquire, and naturally, there would be gossip.

I took Carley’s words to heart and left the yard.
In the courtyard during late autumn, chrysanthemums were the most
enchanting. Walter, standing upright with his hands in the pockets of his all-black attire, was amidst clusters of brightly blooming chrysanthemums, completely out of place with everything around him.
Hearing the noise behind him, he turned around and saw me coming out, he walked towards me.
A figure of one meter eighty-five stood in front of me, towering over me by a large margin. I didn’t like craning my neck to look up at him, let alone having a conversation with him in that position.
So, I turned around and walked to the bench in the yard, sat down, and then picked a chrysanthemum to fiddle with in my hand. “I didn’t know about today’s events in advance. If you’re upset and want to vent on me, I’m sorry, but I won’t be your punching bag.”
He glanced at the empty chair next to me, probably because of the few fallen autumn leaves on it. His handsome eyebrows slightly furrowed, he didn’t sit down, but stood not far away, looking at me and asked, “I know, what did grandma tell you?”
Knew?
I raised an eyebrow, figured it out so quickly?
Indeed, if I had the ability to influence Carley’s thoughts, Ashley wouldn’t have been able to enter the old house in the first place.
He was somewhat intelligent.
Tearing at the petals, I looked up at him and said, “Talk about the matter of our divorce.”
He furrowed his brows, his face becoming a bit more serious as he looked at me and said, “Tabatha, speak properly.”
I nodded, saying earnestly, “I was indeed having a serious conversation
with you. The reason I initially wanted to divorce you was because Ashley was pregnant, but it wasn’t entirely because of her.”
He slightly narrowed his dark pupils, “Tabatha, have I been too indulgent with you?”
I pursed my l*ps, knowing that if we continued to chat like this, we would end up arguing even if we didn’t want to. I tore up all the flowers in my hand and threw them into the flower bed.
Looking at him, she said, “It’s you who wanted to ask me, but when I speak, you don’t listen, Walter. Don’t you find yourself ridiculous right now?”
One had to ask oneself, why speak if you’re not willing to listen? What a bad habit.
Odin was walking towards us along the path by the pond, it seemed like he was coming to call us for dinner.
I walked towards Odin’s direction, not wanting to say another word to Walter.
I hadn’t taken more than a few steps when my wrist was grabbed by Walter. Holding my wrist, his brows furrowed into a frown, “If it’s not because of Ashley, then what is it for?”
Why was that?
Did Carley pressure me?
Was it still the imaginary child in my belly?
These didn’t seem to be the most important, yet they were all
influencing my thoughts, making me hesitate, delay, and reluctant to make a decision.

Yes, I was still hesitating about divorcing Walter. Ever since he confessed to me about Ashley’s pregnancy, I had been wavering.

What was the reason for the swaying?
It seemed like I couldn’t find the answer anymore.
I looked back at him, and somehow, I blurted out something completely off-topic, staring at him, I asked, “Walter, do you love me?”
He suddenly tightened his grip on my hand, squeezing it so hard that my wrist hurt a bit. I didn’t move, just stared at him motionlessly, waiting for his answer.
