Chapter 442 Returning to River City for Treatment
I nodded, feeling as though there were so many things I wanted to say to him. But as his face became increasingly blurred, all I felt was a sense of loss. I knew he was no longer in this world, so every time I dreamed of him, I tried hard to look at him more, fearing that as time went by, I would forget what he looked like.
“Tabatha, remember to do your best in everything,” my father’s words were fading away. I was clutching the hem of his clothes tightly, but in the blink of an eye, the surroundings were filled with fog.
“Ms. Conner.” It was Stanley’s voice. When I opened my eyes, I saw him looking at me with a worried expression. Seeing me awake, he asked, “Are you okay?”
I shook my head, wiping away the tear stains from the corners of my eyes. I looked around, the environment was both strange and familiar. I was in a hospital room.
Looking at Stanley, I asked, “What’s wrong with me? How’s Walter?”
“The doctor said you were too tense and fainted due to physical exhaustion,” Stanley began, pausing before continuing, “Mr. Hinton’s condition isn’t very good. He injured his internal organs during the explosion. Although there’s no immediate danger to his life, there might be signs of internal bleeding. We need to return to River City immediately to seek treatment from a specialist.”
I nodded, pursing my l*ps and asked, “I las he woken up?”
Stanley shook his head, “No.”
The medical conditions here indeed couldn’t provide the best
treatment. Looking at Stanley, I asked, “When are you going back to River City?”
“I had already made arrangements, and was about to leave.”
No time to waste, I got out of bed, looked at him and said, “Let’s go then.”
At this point, Stanley hesitated. Seeing this, I was puzzled, “What’s wrong?”
He looked at me, seemingly with some unspeakable secret. Seeing this, I thought something was wrong with Walter, and anxiously asked, “Has something happened to Walter?”
He quickly shook his head, looking at me and said, “No, Mr. Hinton is fine for now, it’s just…” He pursed his l*ps, somewhat embarra*sed, “Ms. Conner, when we were coming back from the border, another helicopter broke down. Currently, there’s only one helicopter available to return to River City. The space is limited, and we need to bring two doctors to stabilize Mr. Hinton’s condition. So, you might have to wait a few hours to return to River City.”
I nodded, saying, “It’s okay, everything depends on Walter’s condition.”
He apologized somewhat, “This is just a small county town. I’ve arranged for a police officer to accompany you, but you may have to transfer buses for a long time. You must pay attention to your safety as much as possible. We’re close to the border here, and it would be troublesome if Daniel stubbornly pursued you.”
I nodded, pausing slightly before saying, “And Ms. Knight…”
He stiffened slightly and said, “She was supposed to be with us, but Mrs. Hinton from the Ilinton family called. She said that she should go back with Mr. Hinton, so…”
Yes, she was carrying the descendants of the Hinton family in her belly, so naturally, she had to go back earlier.
With a forced smile, I nodded, took a slight breath and said, “Can… can I see Walter?”
He hesitated a bit and said, “I’m afraid it might be difficult. The hospital planned to send him back in a sterile cabin, and he has already been put on a helicopter. It might be quite troublesome to see him.”

He nodded, glanced at the officer standing by and said, “It’s getting late now. After Ms. Conner has had a good rest tomorrow, you will escort her back to River City.”
The officer nodded, “Okay!”
After explaining, Stanley left in a hurry.
Indeed, it had already turned dark outside. Returning to River City overnight, the helicopter was fast, and it only took a few hours to arrive.
