Taking a slight breath, I forced a smile and changed the subject, “Let me treat you to dinner tonight. I’ve dragged you around all day and even made you spend money. So, I insist on being the host tonight.”

He helped me to a stable place, snorted coldly, and asked, “Can you still walk?”
I didn’t respond, enduring the pain to steady myself, I pursed my l*ps. and looked at him, “Do you need something from me?”
Returning to the main topic, his face stiffened slightly, his thin l*ps tightened, his voice low and restrained, “Did Daniel bring you back?”

I was taken aback for a moment, then I remembered that he had come to see me in the morning, but he left without saying a word. Could he be waiting here now?
After hesitating for a few seconds, I nodded and truthfully said, “Hmm.”
The streetlight was dim, and I had some difficulty making out Walter’s complexion. I just felt that his aura had become somewhat heavier. A little while later, he didn’t say much more, only saying, “I’ll walk you in.”
