I originally wanted to tell her not to come, but before I could say it, the call had already been hung up.
Helplessly, I put away my phone and looked at Sebastian, who had been sitting silently on the rest chair. The mud on his b*dy had already dried up, and he looked like a doll that had been thrown into a mud pile, all dirty.
Just now, I had been thinking about Daniel. Seeing him like this, I took a slight breath and said, “Sebastian, I’ll watch over here. You go home, take a shower, eat something, and get some rest.”

Upon hearing the doctor’s words, both Sebastian and I couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.
Not long after, several doctors and nurses pushed Daniel out of the operating room. Daniel’s face was somewhat pale. He looked at us, slightly tugged at his l*ps, but did not speak.
The doctor and nurse were arranging for us to handle other procedures.
Sebastian efficiently took care of everything by himself. I followed a group of people to Daniel’s ward. After settling him in, the doctor arranged some matters that needed attention for his upcoming
recovery.
In the ward, the doctors and nurses had all left, and it suddenly became quiet.
Daniel was leaning against the hospital bed, looking tired. Looking at him, I didn’t know how to start. After hesitating for a few seconds, I said, “The doctor said you can only drink some water for now. You can’t eat anything until the anesthesia wears off, and you can’t sleep either. Can I keep you company by talking to you?”
Because it wasn’t general anesthesia, even though he was very weak, he couldn’t fall asleep. He had to wait until the anesthesia wore off before he could rest.
He nodded slightly, his voice somewhat weak, “How did you come?”
I held a cup of water by the bedside, moistening his l*ps with a cotton swab, and after a moment of thought, I said, “My mother and Alexander have been found, and there’s nothing wrong in Dracview, so we all came back. Besides, you also came to River City for treatment.”
He gave a faint smile, “So, it was for me that you rushed back?”
He was seriously injured, and I didn’t deny that I was indeed worried
about him. I nodded slightly and said, “Yes, Mr. Monroe, thank you this time. If it weren’t for me, your old injury wouldn’t have recurred and ended up like this.”
He looked at me, his eyes almost squinted due to weakness, his long eyelashes almost covering all the sight in his dark pupils. His voice was low and hoarse, “Don’t blame yourself, it’s my own carelessness. What about you? Is the snake venom cleared? What did the doctor say?”
“The doctor said it’s fine,” I began, “I’m doing quite well.”
I thought of many topics in my mind, but it seemed that none of them were suitable to chat with him, yet I couldn’t let him fall asleep. I couldn’t help but think of Sebastian. I said, “Sebastian is back too, he has been with you all the way till now, he hasn’t even had time to change his clothes. I just asked him to go back and rest a bit, but he’s been worrying about you and hasn’t left. You should let him go back and rest properly later. I told him, but he wouldn’t listen to me. If he wears himself out, it won’t be good.
I was genuinely worried about Sebastian. He must have suffered no less than us in the mountains. He probably hadn’t eaten or rested since he started this journey. Not to mention anything else, if something happened to him, what would his mother, a widow with no other children, do?
Daniel gave a slight nod, his gaze deep as he looked at me. After a moment, he asked, “And you?”
For a moment, I didn’t react, looking at him, I said, “What?”
“Do you miss me too?” He spoke, his voice low. His dark eyes, hidden behind long eyelashes, remained motionless as they watched me.
I was thinking that he must still be under the influence of the
anesthesia, too weak, which was why he asked such a question. Everyone seeks comfort and solace in their weakest moments, even someone like Daniel.
Thinking of this, I nodded, looking at him and said, “Mmm, so, Mr. Monroe, you must take good care of yourself in the future.”
