Stayed over there?
I froze, frowning, “You want to stay at the police station?”
He nodded, his expression unchanged, but his eyes, somewhat dim, moved away from me.
I belatedly realized that I had changed into my pajamas before going to bed last night. I must have tossed and turned all night, and I had no idea where my jacket had ended up. I was only wearing a camisole, and because I had just woken up, I didn’t have the energy to adjust it. One strap had sl*pped down to my arm, leaving most of my b*dy exposed.
Looked a bit… revealing.
I quickly pulled over the quilt, saying somewhat awkwardly, “No need, it’s just for an investigation, not a big deal, you don’t have to go.”
He pursed his l*ps, didn’t respond, and simply said, “Let’s talk after breakfast.”
After speaking, he saw him leave the bedroom in a serious manner.
Watching his retreating figure, I furrowed my brows. How did I feel that his reaction was a bit over the top? We had been husband and wife for two years, we had done what we were supposed to do, and we had touched everything that should and shouldn’t be touched.
Now it’s just seeing half of the b*dy exposed, how come?
When did he become so… shy?

Thinking of this word, I couldn’t help but laugh, my mood improved a lot. After washing up and changing my clothes, I went downstairs.
The breakfast was arranged by Dale to be delivered from the restaurant. Walter was sitting at the dining table, looking down at some documents, not touching the breakfast on the table. It seemed like he was waiting for me.
Hearing the noise, he closed the file in his hand and looked at me, saying, “I’ve taken care of everything at the police station…”
“Weren’t you busy with work recently?” I interrupted him.
He paused, gave a faint smile, “It doesn’t matter.”
Sitting at the dining table, looking at him, I took a slight breath, inevitably thinking too much. It was almost the end of the year, how could there not be many things to deal with.
Regarding this matter with Henry, I had no idea how long it would take to clear up. It wasn’t right for him to keep wasting time with me. So, looking at him, I said directly, “I’ll go to the police station myself later. You go and attend to your own business. I didn’t kill anyone, so I can’t possibly end up with a murder charge for no reason.”
He furrowed his brows, saying, “It’s no problem.”
I didn’t want him to waste his time and energy on my affairs, nor did I want to continue to involve him. I calmly said, “Walter, this is my business.”
I didn’t say the words that followed, but he clearly sensed my aloofness. His action of drinking milk stiffened slightly for a moment, then he looked at me and asked, “Do you want to cut ties with me?”
I nodded, stating bluntly, “If possible, I hope you won’t interfere in my affairs. The police are handling Henry’s case, and there’s no news from

the media yet, so it won’t affect the Hinton Group.”
His face darkened, and just when I thought he was about to lose his temper, he suddenly said calmly, “It has nothing to do with the Hinton Group, I…”
Before he could speak, Odin rushed in, urgently saying, “The old lady is coughing up blood, you need to go ch*ck on her.”
“Coughing up blood?” Walter abruptly stood up from his seat, without time for further discussion, he glanced at me and said, “I’ll have Odin take you later, I need to ch*ck on grandma.
I nodded, urging him to hurry up. The old lady had just been
discharged from the hospital not long ago, how could she be coughing up blood again?
Watching him leave in a hurry. I couldn’t continue eating. I got up and left the yard. Seeing that it was getting late, I simply left the house on
my own.
Originally, I just wanted to find a random driver from the Hinton family to take me there. Unexpectedly, Odin arrived so quickly and saw that I was already outside the house.
He said, “Madam, Mr. Walter asked me to escort you, where are you going?”
Upon seeing this, I nodded and gave the address of the police station.

I couldn’t help but ask about the old lady’s condition. Odin said, “I’m
not sure either. It might be a lingering illness from her previous hospital stay. The doctor said she needs to be carefully taken care of. It’s been cold in River City recently, and the elderly’s digestive system is fragile. I’m afraid she might have eaten something wrong last night,
and she vomited blood this morning.
I pursed my l*ps, feeling inevitably worried. My heart pounded. uncontrollably in my chest. Just as I was about to close my eyes and lean back, Odin suddenly sped up. The extremely fast speed instinctively made me blurt out, “What’s wrong?”
Odin glanced at the rearview mirror and said, “We’re being followed.”
