Chapter 230 The Skeleton Buried for Ten Years
Ignoring him, I found my phone and dialed Rachel’s number. After a few rings, the call was hung up.
When I tried to call again, it was already unreachable. I only received a text message, “Tabatha, I know what I want and what I should or shouldn’t do. I’m not a child, I don’t need you constantly telling me what to do. I want some peace for a while, please do not disturb!”

I glanced sideways, the caller ID showed it was my mother. I answered the call, and my mother’s voice came from the other end, “Tabatha, are you asleep?”
Listening to her voice, my face brightened considerably. I asked into the phone, “Not yet, Mom, when are you and Mr. Borseth coming back?”
“I was just about to talk to you about this,” Mother began, “After Alexander and I attended Mia’s wedding, we came over to Alexander’s old home here in the mountains. It’s quite remote, but the air is good and the scenery is nice. The only problem is the inconvenient road. Our car couldn’t make it up the mountain this afternoon, so Alexander and I had to hike in. You wouldn’t believe it, I’ve never walked such a long mountain path in my life. It was really tiring!”
Listening to my mother’s nagging voice, I realized that she and Alexander had gone into the mountain that had collapsed ten years ago. I quickly spoke up. “Didn’t you say you were just going to take a look? Why did you go into the mountain? The mountain is almost entirely hollowed out with mines, what were you doing in there?”
My mother, on the other hand, didn’t seem to mind. She said, “It’s okay. At first, I thought the same as you, that this mountain must have been unsafe due to past disasters. However, when Alexander and I came today, we found it wasn’t as dangerous as you thought. The previously collapsed mountain has almost recovered, and now it’s all dense forests. I’ve asked around, and the government often sends people to investigate, so there’s no problem. You can rest a*sured, nothing will happen. Besides, there are still many villagers living deep in the mountains. They said that apart from the natural disaster that occurred ten years ago, there haven’t been any major incidents here in recent years. Don’t worry.”
Aware that I couldn’t persuade my mother from such a distance, I took a slight breath and reluctantly said, “Alright, I won’t worry. But tell me, why are you going to the mountains? When will you be back?”
Mother chuckled, “I was just about to tell you this over the phone. Alexander, he initially just wanted to come back for a visit. But when we got to the foot of the mountain, we met a villager who said that it seemed like the remains of those who perished in the disaster ten years ago had been found over the years. Hearing this, Alexander decided to come back to see if he could find his parents’ remains and give them a
proper burial.”
I frowned, the mountain had been hollowed out years ago, most people were buried hundreds of meters deep in the mountain, how could the remains of the victims suddenly appear?
Even if it were to occur, it would be due to tectonic movements or extensive development of the area that the remains of the victims might be discovered. In the short span of ten years, there had been no earthquakes or other natural disasters in that area, let alone extensive development.
