You suffered so much five years ago. If it weren’t for the fact that you are the daughter of the Conner family, Rudolf and Auntie Eileen would have spent everything to treat your illness, you would have already…” At this point, she choked up a bit.
Taking a deep breath, I said, “Tabatha, we didn’t see firsthand the hardships you endured at the border, but we did see the days after you returned, when you were constantly awakened by nightmares and suffered a mental breakdown.
