Walter led me into the building and directly up to the second floor. After finding a seat by the edge, he looked at me and asked, “What would you like to eat?”
I shook my head, who could eat anything so early in the morning?
Seeing this, he didn’t ask any more questions. He simply told the waiter, “Bring some stomach-soothing food.”
The waiter nodded in response and then left.
The place was originally quiet, and neither Walter nor I spoke, making the atmosphere inexplicably even more silent.
“Are you feeling better?” These words came from Walter’s mouth.
I was taken aback for a moment, not reacting immediately to his sudden inquiry about my health. It was only later that I remembered, I had returned from Chesterburg a while ago. Perhaps it was due to Ezra’s death and Ashley’s shamelessness, I had a high fever for a few days afterwards. It wasn’t a big deal, it had already pa*sed.

I couldn’t help but lower my gaze, truly unable to figure out why he was looking for me so early in the morning. Inevitably suspicious, I thought through all the possibilities in my mind.
Looking up at him, I asked, “Is there anything you’re not satisfied with in the divorce agreement?” Actually, what I meant to ask was whether he wanted to add anything. After all, we had lost our child, and knowing his character, he probably didn’t want to owe me anything. So, he might be thinking about compensating me financially.

I wasn’t sure if it was the way I asked, but his dark eyes slightly sank, carrying a bit of a subdued restraint. After a brief pause, he opened his mouth somewhat domineeringly, “Eat your breakfast!”
This statement was filled with sheer dominance and irrationality, and if you listened carefully, there was also a hint of anger.
I really couldn’t figure out what he was thinking, and I didn’t have time to keep going on like this with him. So, I simply stuffed the shrimp dumpling he had given me into my mouth. With my mouth full, I barely tasted anything as I looked at him and mumbled, “I’ve eaten, now you talk.”
Seeing me like this, a hint of amusement flickered in his extremely attractive eyes. With a slight sense of helplessness, he picked up some more food from the table and placed it in front of me, his voice carrying a hint of indulgence as he said, “Try this one too.”
