After Lucas took away the rest of Ezra’s men, he came over to greet us. After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Lucas looked at me and said, “Ms. Conner, I will report the details of this incident to my superiors. Thank you for your significant help. If it weren’t for you, we might have let Ezra escape.”
I shook my head, still somewhat uncertain as I looked at him and asked, “Lucas, is Ezra really dead? Have you found his b*dy?”
Lucas gave a faint smile, looking at me and said, “The explosion of the yacht was quite powerful, many things were destroyed, and Ezra’s b*dy was probably blown to ashes. The sea is too vast, it’s impossible for us to salvage his remains from the sea. But rest a*sured, he was shot in the leg at the time and you stabbed his arm. I felt much more relaxed. After a pause, I thought of Owen and couldn’t help but look at him and ask, “Lucas, has Owen been caught?”

I nodded and expressed my thanks.

Walter pursed his l*ps, a hint of aloofness showing on his handsome face. He gave a slight nod, without any unnecessary words. He had always been good at hiding his emotions, but I still noticed something unusual from the slight gleam in his eyes.
That was the disappointment after hopes were dashed.
Disappointed?
I was full of doubts, what was the clue in Lucas’s words? Why was Walter disappointed?
I didn’t know if I was overthinking, but I unconsciously recalled the events from five years ago. Even now, I still couldn’t figure it out. Given Walter’s status and identity, why would someone like him fall into Ezra’s hands, be blinded, and be tortured day and night in a water dungeon?

His hand was the result of the resentment I had nowhere to vent after waking up from the hospital. I was speechless, the moment I found out the child was gone, I was full of resentment, wishing I could kill him and Ashley. That’s when he ran into the muzzle.
Half an hour ago, I didn’t feel the slightest bit of sympathy for him. However, when he just now jumped off the yacht and desperately rushed towards me, pushing me out of the cabin, and in the last moment before the yacht exploded, took me with him as he jumped off the yacht, those feelings that I had been suppressing deep within me were ultimately impossible for me to ignore.

Upon exiting the airport terminal, Walter stopped me as I was about to hail a taxi. “I’ve asked Roy to pick us up, no need for a taxi,” he said.
I pursed my l*ps, saying lightly, “No need, we’re not going the same way, so let’s not trouble Mr. Austen to run back and forth.”
Having said that, I pulled open the taxi door, ready to get in.
“Bang!” Walter slammed the car door shut, his handsome brows furrowed slightly, “Tabatha…”
“Walter.” His words didn’t come out when a soft, mellow voice of a woman came from not far away. Without looking, he knew it was Ashley.

Walter didn’t say much, just said, “Let’s go, get in the car.”
As he spoke, he reached out to grab me. I dodged him and saw Alexander coming from afar. I looked at Walter and gave him an
unfamiliar smile, saying. “Someone is here to pick me up, I won’t bother Mr. Hinton anymore.”
After speaking. I turned to Roy, smiled faintly, and said, “Mr. Austen, it’s time to change your address. I’ve divorced Mr. Hinton. You’d better not call me ‘Mrs.’ randomly in the future.”
