“Sorry… I didn’t know you…” Walter’s low, desolate voice came from beside my ear, choked with emotion,
I kept my eyes closed, without uttering a word.
My hand was held in his, warmth seeping through. I pulled my hand back, avoiding him.

The noise was too loud, and my mother outside the door and Alexander rushed in. Seeing that I was okay, both of them breathed a sigh of relief. However, seeing the kettle that had fallen on the ground and Walter, who was steaming hot, they were both stunned for a
moment.
Mother reacted quickly, looking at Walter she said, “This hot water was just boiled, hurry… hurry and ch*ck the shower water, otherwise it will start to blister soon.”
Walter didn’t move, his dark eyes still fixed on me, his voice low and restrained, “Have you calmed down?”

I nodded, my tense nerves finally relaxing at that moment. I leaned weakly against the hospital bed, my gaze hollow and empty.
So heartbroken that I couldn’t breathe.
My mother tidied up the mess in the sickroom, called the doctor to examine me, and then sat beside me, silently shedding tears.
I knew she was worried about me, but at that moment, I didn’t want to speak. I just wanted to wallow in my misery.
