Chapter 40 Unrequited Love
A message came to her phone. She opened it and saw that it was from Thiago.
[Gianna, do you miss me? I miss you so much! See you in France soon.]
Gianna changed her face and typed on the screen.
[I don’t!]
After sending the message, she turned around and told her assistant, “Just sign for me and distribute the flowers to the female colleagues in the company.”
“Okay.” The assistant left the office in response.
Gianna continued to read the files when Enrick, the director of the expansion department, knocked on the door and came in.
“Ms. Lewis, good morning.”
Enrick walked to Gianna’s desk and handed over the folder, but his eyes showed shrewdness. “This is the income statement for this month. Please take a look at it.”
Gianna didn’t take it but just looked at Enrick indifferently. “What’s the matter? Mr. Morgan?” Then she glanced at the document in Enrick’s hand. “Just give it to my assistant. Why bother?” The smile on Enrick’s face became brighter, and he pretended to be a little nervous. “Ms. Lewis, I’m sorry I offended you during the last meeting.”
Gianna showed a polite smile. “Never mind. We need to understand each other.”
“After I went back, the more I thought about it, the more I felt guilty. I wondered if I could treat you to a light meal tonight. Consider it my apology.
“I have new news about Valken Group and want to share it with you privately.”
Enrick kept his head down and was polite, utterly different from his arrogant look in the conference room that day.
Enrick was hypocritical and changeable. Gianna crossed his long fingers. Her eyes had read his thoughts. “Well, I will go to your appointment today.”
She only knew Liam from the Valken Group, and Enrick was interested in the Valken Group. Such a person couldn’t be underestimated.
Regardless of whether he had any inside information about Valken Group, she had to go and see what kind of trick Enrick was playing today.
“That’s really great, Ms. Lewis. Let’s meet at Tabor Restaurant tonight!”
Enrick smiled flatteringly and left the office cheerfully. The moment he closed the door, his face was cold.
The Neptune roses airlifted from abroad in the downstairs hall on the other side carried a sweet scent, but Gianna hadn’t appeared.
Maverick quietly waited at the side of the hall, wanting to surprise Gianna after she received the bouquet. Ultimately, he saw an assistant in work clothes come down to sign for it, and two security guards behind him carried the bouquet upstairs.
Maverick refused to give up. And there was a letter he had written on the bouquet.
Maverick waited until it was off–duty time. The girls in the building passed by him with a few roses each, so he gave up. Gianna didn’t even look at the roses and gave them to the employees.
11:40
Maverick was very depressed. When he looked up and saw the recruitment information on the display board, a smile flashed across Maverick’s beautiful eyes.
Maverick had another idea.
This restaurant was famous in Silver City. And all the celebrities would come here to eat.
Enrick may not be able to afford it as a working class. It seemed this had something to do with the contact person in the Valken Group behind him.
Through the dreamlike and gilded lights, Gianna was guided by the waiter to the table where Enrick was.
“Ms. Lewis, hi.”
Seeing Gianna coming, Enrick didn’t get up but lit a cigarette. His attitude changed a lot from that
in the office.
Gianna was not annoyed when she saw this. She put down her bag and sat down with a light smile. “I don’t know what is the inside information about the Valken Group that you said, Mr. Morgan.”
Enrick shook the cigarette ash and looked greedily at Gianna up and down. “Take your time. We’ll talk after dinner.”
Gianna lowered her head and smiled, raising her hand to look at his watch. “I won’t eat. I’m in a hurry.”
“Why be so anxious?” Enrick stood up, walked to Gianna’s seat, put his hand on the back of her chair, leaned down, and got very close to Gianna.
