Chapter 369 No Gain Without Reward
“Ms. Lewis, maybe we should…” Erwin began hesitantly, clearly not wanting Gianna to have too much contact with Levi.
But Gianna understood that what had to happen would happen, and she calmly entered the private dining room.
Her
every move exuded grace and poise.
“It’s quite surprising, Mr. Rivera, to find out you’re the hidden force behind this project.” Levi smiled slightly and casually replied, “Originally, the Rivera Group wasn’t involved in this field. However, we wish to collaborate with Ms. Lewis, so we’re trying it out.”
Gianna smiled and asked, “So, are you saying that the Rivera Group wants to cooperate with the Empyrean Group?”
Levi nodded and smoothly took a folder from his a*sistant. “That is indeed the case. But we need to finalize the details.”
Gianna raised an eyebrow, her tone unaffected. “Oh, is there anything you’re uncertain about, Mr. Rivera?”
“I find the profit-sharing ratio a bit unreasonable.”
With this statement, Erwin, sitting on the side, instinctively adjusted his gla*ses and felt that Levi showed no intention of cooperating.
“Mr. Rivera, Rivera Group is relatively new to this project. Our standard profit-sharing ratio seems fair. Are you suggesting that Rivera Group has no intention of working with us?”
Erwin’s words were straightforward and aggressive.
Levi, however, turned his gaze to Gianna. “Your a*sistant is correct. Given this profit allocation, Rivera Group already has a significant advantage. So, I believe that changing it from a 50-50 split to
a 70-30 split, with Empyrean Group receiving the larger share, would be more equitable.”
Erwin was taken aback. Was Levi actually here to discuss a partnership?
Wasn’t he giving Empyrean Group money outright with this blatant 30% concession?
“Ms. Lewis, what do you think?”
Gianna didn’t understand Levi’s intentions. “Mr. Rivera, are you here for business or charity?”
Levi calmly said, “I just want you to earn more money and use it to silence your board. That’s all.”
Gianna’s hand clenched silently. How did he know so much about the internal matters of Empyrean Group?
“No need, Mr. Rivera.”
Gianna rejected him directly. “Let’s talk business fairly. I can’t just take advantage of you without offering anything in return. If you’re this uninterested in cooperation, then there’s no need to continue the discussion.”
Gianna got up and made her way to the exit without looking back.
Levi remained seated at the head of the table, his composure unchanged. He spoke slowly, “I’ve heard about your bet with the board. If you lose, you’ll have to leave Empyrean Group and lose control of it.”
Gianna turned her gaze back to him. “Mr. Rivera, that’s not your concern.“
Levi raised his eyes and met hers. “Considering the profits this project can bring, it can increase the performance by at least five percent, Gianna. I just want to help you.”
Gianna smiled faintly. “Thank you, Mr. Rivera. No gain without reward. Let’s put this matter to
rest.”
With that, Gianna left the private dining room without looking back. Levi felt a tinge of
annoyance.
He was frustrated by Gianna’s refusal and how she had clearly defined the boundaries between them.
Almost without hesitation, Levi followed her outside.
