Natalie shook her head. “It’s not that cold!”
Everything Irwin had prepared was top–notch. Though she looked a little puffy and resembled an actual penguin, Natalie genuinely didn’t feel the cold much.
Irwin looked at her and smiled.
There was a skiing resort in Mount Elven where winter holidaymakers gathered. Irwin had brought her here via helicopter.
Looking down, they saw a vast area filled with crowds, exuding sheer joy.
“So, this used to be your world,” Natalie remarked as she looked below.
Irwin was slightly stunned when he heard that, and he fell silent.
He tightened his grip on Natalie’s hand and sighed deeply.
“Nat, we agreed not to talk about the past this month.”
“But are you truly present?” Natalie remarked piercingly, her gaze into Irwin’s eyes becoming even more profound.
Irwin remained silent.
Indeed, was he truly living in the present at this moment?
“She holds a significant place in your heart, doesn’t she?”
Again, Irwin remained silent.
Natalie’s hand in his suddenly felt heavier.
Natalie observed a flicker of change in his eyes. She could decipher every nuance.
Being naturally perceptive, Natalie had always sensed a deep–rooted conflict between Irwin
and Cedric.
What was so confidential that they couldn’t tell her?
A decade was a long time. In that time, Cedric had never breathed a word about it in her presence, and he’d always been evasive about his relationship with Irwin.
And Irwin had kept her in the dark as well!
Given that he had promptly whisked her away from Wexford upon sensing Casey’s impending discovery, it was evident he was desperate to hide something from her.

The helicopter landed on a helipad at the ski resort, yet they didn’t disembark. The two locked eyes in profound silence for what felt like an eternity.

“Because what? It doesn’t matter anymore!” Natalie interrupted him, cutting him off mid-
sentence.
At her words, Irwin’s eyes darkened noticeably.
“It’s irrelevant,” she reiterated coldly, looking straight into his eyes.

Things had reached a point where there was no longer a need to stay in Mount Elven, especially since Natalie had finally caught on.
They returned by helicopter. Once they reached the manor they had been staying at, Irwin instructed his men to pack up for a return to Wexford.
Natalie sat quietly on the couch, holding a coffee cup. Her eyes were calm yet profoundly deep.
No one could tell what was truly running through her mind. Whatever emotion was surging within her, she buried it deep down, and no one could discern its nature.
Irwin took a seat beside her, inhaling deeply as if trying to find the right words. Yet, at that moment, he seemed utterly speechless.
“What was her name?” Natalie finally broke the silence.
