Chapter 75
The first half of the sentence didn’t elicit much of a reaction from the calm Anderson. However, when he heard the latter half, a deep gleam appeared in his eyes as he stared intently.
An unfamiliar emotion flickered across his chest but quickly disappeared, making it difficult for him to grasp.
Mayra went to the bathroom to wash her face. She then set the alarm clock and lay down on the bed to sleep.
In the study, Anderson watched the surveillance footage from today. The whole incident lasted for two hours.
He stared at the video screen for a long time. In his mind, he could only see Mayra smiling brightly when she met the person she liked.
The previous Mayra had only smiled like that for him.
It felt as though “something” he had nurtured for many years had been stolen away silently. It made him very unhappy.
The lights in the study didn’t go out until late at night.
In the middle of the night, Anderson, dressed in his pajamas, appeared outside of Mayra’s room. He hesitated for a few seconds after grabbing the doorknob. After that, he let go and turned away, returning to his room.
Mayra only heard a faint sound. She rolled over and immediately fell back asleep.
When the sky brightened, the maids trembled as they prepared breakfast. They placed a cup of hot milk in Mayra’s usual seat.
One of the maids went upstairs to wake Mayra up but was surprised to find the bed empty. Her gaze fell on the table, where only a note and a credit card were left behind.
The maid entered the room and picked up the note. Seeing the content, she quickly turned and ran downstairs.
“Oh no, this is bad. Mr. Anderson, Ms. Sadler has left with all her things. She

left behind this note and this card.”
Sitting on the couch, Anderson took the note with his long fingers. As he read the contents, a cold look spread across his face.
“I’m sorry, Andy. I don’t think I belong here. I prefer my original home. Bye, Andy. You don’t have to come pick me up on weekends anymore. I’ll come back to see you during the holidays.
“Be good to Isa. Please apologize to her for me. I didn’t mean to ruin your engagement photoshoot. I’m really sorry.
There was a drawing of a little girl with closed eyes and tears streaming down her face on the back of the note.
Anderson crumpled the note in his hand with force, realizing that it was all because of what happened yesterday.
He thought Mayra’s departure was because she was still angry about the engagement.
Mayra, being an orphan, was more sensitive than anyone else. What she feared most was being abandoned by Anderson
She was afraid he didn’t want her.
Anderson had no choice but to bring her by his side and take care of her. When facing outsiders, Mayra always kept her distance from anyone who showed dislike or aversion toward her. She maintained a guarded attitude toward everyone and avoided close interaction.
The usually calm and composed man suddenly emanated a dangerous vibe, which spread throughout the living room.
“What have you all done to her?”
