Gordon looked at the message that he had just received, but he did not reply. The cold look in his eyes reflected the glow of his phone, but he put it down in the end.
Mayra held her phone tightly and waited for the entire night, but Gordon did not reply to her.
She slept through the whole night.
When Mayra heard the sound of someone knocking on her door, she woke up. The maid walked in. “Ms. Sadler, it’s time to wake up for breakfast.”
Anderson was putting on his watch as he walked out of his room. “It’s alright. Let her sleep for a while longer.”
“Are you ready, Andy? We should leave now.”
Mayra rubbed her eyes and sat up in bed.
She was wearing a soft pink lace nightdress, and there was a thin blanket covering her slightly, exposing her long legs. “Where are you going, Andy?”
Anderson walked in, followed by Isabel.
Isabel’s skin looked as smooth and creamy as silk that day, and she wore a tight–fitting red bodycon dress. Her long hair was twisted into a bun. She looked very elegant, as befitted the mistress of the house. Everything she did was captivating.
She walked over to Anderson and smiled as she took his arm. The huge ring twinkled on her finger.
“Andy and I are going to take our engagement photos today. We wanted to take you with us, but we were afraid that you’d get bored at the studio, so we decided to let you stay home and wait for us to come back.
Mayra squinted lazily and nodded. “Alright. I’ll stay home. Get back soon.”
Anderson looked intently at the woman on the bed. His eyes were dark and unreadable.

Mayra sat on the bed and waited for them to leave the room. They closed the door behind them, and sounds drifted to her through the open window. She was fully awake by this time.
She got dressed and went downstairs, only to see the maids cleaning up the untouched breakfast on the table.
Mayra did not say anything and watched them silently.
The look in the maids‘ eyes changed at once when they saw Mayra. “It’s almost 10:00 am, and breakfast time is over. You can hold on a while longer and wait for lunch, Ms. Sadler.”
“Some people just aren’t self–aware! They really think of themselves as heiresses.”
“If you’re a jinx, it’s better not to linger in this house. Otherwise, you might draw contempt.”
The untouched breakfast was dumped in the trash can. “It would be better just to feed it to the dogs.”
“Oh, right! Mr. Anderson and Ms. Fisher will be having their engagement party soon, and Ms. Fisher will be moving in. We’re very busy today, so we may not have time to cook for you, Ms. Sadler.”
“Well, if you miss one meal, the second will hardly make any difference. Why don’t you just wait for Mr. Anderson and Ms. Fisher to get back, Ms. Sadler?”
Mayra said nothing and went back upstairs.
The maids burst into laughter when they saw her slink piteously upstairs like a kicked puppy. One of the maids said worriedly, “What if she tells Mr. Anderson when he gets back?”
“What are you afraid about? We were all employed by Ms. Fisher, and she’s the one who will be in charge around here in the future. Ms. Sadler is nothing!”
Mayra returned to her room. Was she upset?
It would be a lie to say that she wasn’t.
She was being held in contempt, ostracized, and treated coldly!
She had experienced all of this in her past life, and she did not wish to go

Mayra sat on the bed with her arms wrapped around her knees. She buried her face in her arms.
She felt like she didn’t belong anywhere, like she had been abandoned.
It didn’t feel good at all.
