Chapter 7: Birth Control
Anna felt like her whole body was going to fall apart!
“Ace! What are you so angry about? Do you care about me? Do you care that your enemy’s daughter is sleeping with another man? It’s ridiculous.”
“I thought you didn’t care about me. I’m coming back to you now because
no company will hire me. I can’t find a job; I’m just short of money.”
So she could be so vicious. She used to be like a cat, forever pampering him.
When had she ever been so sarcastic to him?
Ace closed his eyes and finally released her.
He wouldn’t feel sorry for the daughter of his enemy. He got out of bed, got
dressed, went back to his desk, wrote the check, and tossed it to her, “Get out
and ……” He was about to continue when he saw Anna pull a box of pills out of
her purse.
She closed the lid, pressed out the pills, tossed them easily into her mouth,
grabbed the glass of water on his desk, took a small sip, and swallowed.
“I can’t get pregnant because I’ve had ectopic pregnancies. I have to be very
careful. The surgery can be a little scary.”
Ace had wanted his secretary to buy her birth control pills. But his whole
body froze when he saw that Anna had brought her own.
Anna checked the numbers on the check and smiled like a prostitute who’d
just gotten a generous tip from a donor. Ezra tugged on his refastened tie.
“Not leaving yet?”

“Thank you, Mr. Robert. Can I come back to you when I’ve spent it all?”
Ace wanted to call her a slut, like he’d fucked her in front of Carl. But her
father was dead, and she was in jail, so she really didn’t seem to owe him
anymore.
“Remember what you said in court. We’re done.”
Anna took the check and flicked her fingers happily, “Okay! So, can you
introduce me to a generous billionaire in the future? After all, you know how
great I am. Since I can’t get a job, I might be able to make some quick cash while
I still have my pretty face.”
“Fuck off!” Ace picked up an ashtray and slammed it at Anna!
The ashtray grazed Anna’s ear and smashed against the wall.
Anna stood motionless, slowly putting the check in her checkbook, turning
around, and politely closing the door for him.
Her former coworker sees her. Anna deliberately pulled down her collar so
they could see the hickey on her neck. It was written all over her face – “I was
just playing with your boss for a while.”
Walking out of the building, Anna straightened her back and stopped a cab.
As she got into the cab and closed the door, she suddenly covered her face
and cried out!
The driver was so frightened that he asked, “What’s wrong, miss? What’s
wrong?”
Anna sobbed, “I’ve been fired from my job, and I’m afraid my parents will
know I live like this. Life is so hard, so hard!”

The driver’s hair was gray, and he looked at Anna kindly and warmly,
“Children always like to tell their parents good news, not bad news. As parents,
we will always be there for you. The door of the house will always be open for
you.”
“But I don’t have a home anymore, ever!” Anna cried so hard the driver
pulled over and pushed the meter down.
“Girl, if you want to cry, then cry. I’m not going to charge you. When you’ve
cried enough, I’ll take you to your destination. I also have a daughter about your
age. She’s divorced and has a child. I always wondered how many times she

Anna saw the driver’s tears out of the corner of her eye. The truth was that
it was hard for everyone to stay alive. Once she got out of the car, no one would
see her tears.

When she reached the bank, Anna paid the driver.
Anna cashed the check, deposited it into her account, and then went to visit
her daughter in the hospital.
Almost two years old, Daisy shaved her little bald head.
Because of leukemia.
So she had to carry another Ace child. She had to! Daisy needed to survive.
The pills in the box of birth control pills were nothing more than vitamins.
There was no way Anna could get pregnant that easily with only one, and
she needed to be sure she was pregnant before she could break off her
relationship with Ace.
