Chapter 30 Contact List
Fox’s calm demeanor made Jenny uncomfortable.
Why was he so indifferent, with no reaction at all? Frustrated, Jenny stomped her foot and turned away.
“What’s up with her? Why did she even come over?” Peterson shrugged, unfazed, enjoying his spaghetti bolognese.
Neither Lucy nor Jennifer cared either, seeing Jenny’s comments as pointless.
“She’s spending her parents‘ money, so what’s she so proud of?” Peterson scoffed.” Fox is the real deal, making his own money.
That fact alone crushed Jenny’s bragging rights. Plus, Fox had thought of his family. first before even thinking of celebrating with his friends.
“That’s the kind of talk I like to hear. Need another helping?” Fox laughed, patting Peterson on the shoulder.
By now, they had nearly finished their meal.
“Let’s move somewhere else to chat. We can discuss our plans for the summer more freely,” Fox suggested. The restaurant’s quiet atmosphere wasn’t conducive to their potentially noisy conversation.
Jennifer waved to the manager and spoke softly, “Bring all the signature cakes.”
The manager quickly complied, and ten signature cakes were placed before them. Meanwhile, Jenny’s family was still waiting for their guest. Jenny’s mom wanted to flaunt their wealth.
“Waiter, I’d like a signature cake, the one I always have,” she ordered. The cake was renowned, created by a European chef, expensive and limited in supply.
“I’m sorry, ma’am, but we’re out of the signature cakes,” the waiter apologized.
But the lady’s sharp eyes caught sight of the cakes at Fox’s table. “What about those? I thought you said they were out.”
“They ordered all of them. We can’t do anything about it,” the waiter said helplessly.
Jenny frowned, noting the high price of the cakes on the menu. They ordered all ten? She glanced over.
Fox was cheerfully pushing the cakes to Jennifer, knowing she loved sweets, while he had no interest in them. Seeing this, Jenny felt a pang of jealousy. If only she were

the one sitting there…
“He’s just showing off. He’ll regret it when he has to pay,” Jenny thought bitterly,
She misunderstood completely. The cakes were Jennifer’s idea. As a “young lady,” she didn’t have to pay for these, and her parents limited her intake for health reasons.
After enjoying the cakes, Fox and his friends prepared to leave. Fox paid the bill, handed over some money, and they left, Jenny, puzzled, called the waiter over.
“They ordered the signature cakes, which are expensive. How could he pay so little?”
She was nearly hysterical, her tone frantic.
The waiter merely gave a polite smile without further explanation, Restaurant internal affairs weren’t for guests to question.
“You need to explain this!” Jenny demanded, her frustration rising.
However, she was unaware that the woman sitting across from her looked increasingly annoyed. This lady was there to assess Jenny for MIT. Jenny’s outburst over a trivial matter showed her immaturity and lack of self–control, traits unbefitting a prospective MIT student.
MIT wouldn’t turn down money, but they didn’t accept just anyone. Jenny’s actions were problematic, and the assessing woman was displeased.
Jenny’s behavior attracted the attention of other guests, making the woman uncomfortable. “Miss, you’re too loud. Everything is as per regulations. If you continue, we’ll have to ask you to leave,” the manager said sternly.
Finally, Jenny calmed down, but the woman had lost interest in her. Whether she could get into MIT would now depend on how much her father was willing to pay.
Meanwhile, Fox and his friends strolled around New York.
“To start a small business and make money, we need to understand the current market,” Fox explained.
With his new earnings, Fox went to a phone store and bought three high–end phones and two more basic models.
“These are for you. If you need anything, call me, Fox said, handing the basic phones to Peterson and Lucy. The high–end phones were for his parents and himself.
“Fox, add my number to your contacts,” Jennifer said.
“You do it,” Fox handed her the phone.
Jennifer quickly added herself to Fox’s contacts.
“I’m the first person in Fox’s contact list,” Jennifer said, feeling unexpectedly happy.
