Chapter 27 Multiple Choices
Fox noticed the worry in Ferren’s eyes.
He knew that once he got some money and his first break, he would need to get to work. He decided to start with small businesses to earn a bit of money, addressing family issues while preparing for the future.
It was only 2004, and many opportunities hadn’t yet developed.
Coming from the future, Fox could list numerous ways to make money.
For instance, investing in Marvel movies in 2008. Starting with “Iron Man” and leading up to “The Avengers,” the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe could be a lucrative investment.
Then there was Bitcoin, which would become a huge deal in the future. But these were “investments.” Fox wanted to have his own company, his own industry. A
stable business that could continually generate income.
“Uber” was a promising choice, founded in 2009. If he started it early, it would be his company. “TikTok” was another possibility, which wouldn’t enter the U.S. until 2017. Fox had at least ten years to prepare.
In the age of the internet, opportunities were everywhere, and Fox already knew the future. For example, Twitter was an excellent choice. Facebook was a bit late now, but if Fox made a lot of money, why not invest in it?
Looking long–term, electric vehicles were a great direction for the future. If he identified the right path and invested money, there was potential for profit.
Fox’s mind was filled with future information.
Even if he couldn’t grasp business, he could rely on connections. Meeting future super–entrepreneurs now and investing in them would make him a significant shareholder later.
To achieve all this, Fox needed to improve his own abilities. He wouldn’t stop learning, aiming to master useful technologies and knowledge at MIT.
He also planned to network with talented individuals, forming friendships and partnerships that could help him in big ventures.
But all of this hinged on his script passing the initial hurdle. The first step was always the hardest, and Fox couldn’t control everything. Earning his first significant amount of money wasn’t easy.

Writing “Prison Break” might have been more suitable, given his prison experience. But the show premiered in 2005, and the script was likely already in development. So, Fox didn’t choose that script. Plus, Jennifer had asked for something different, and he had written “Sherlock” on a whim.
He continued reading his screenwriting books, absorbing various techniques. When it was time, he went to bed, praying for success.
Jennifer waited for her mom to come home. “Mom, welcome back.”
“Jennifer, my dear, why are you still up?”
Her mom hugged her and kissed her forehead.
“I have something to show you. Come with me.”
Jennifer smiled, pulling her mom to her room. Her mom, curious but indulgent, followed her.
“Another math problem to show off? You know I can’t understand math.”
Jennifer’s mom joked.
Jennifer sat her mom in front of the computer and opened the document. “Is this… a script?” Her mom was intrigued, scrolling through it.
“A modern Sherlock Holmes!”
“Jennifer, did you write this? You’ve loved Sherlock Holmes since you were little. I didn’t expect you to write such a story. It’s a bit rough and incomplete, but
impressive for a newcomer.”
“It’s not mine. It’s my classmate’s.”
“A boyfriend?”
“A classmate!”
“But you’ve graduated high school. And I’ve never heard of you having friends.”
“I have friends. Lucy and Fox. We’re all planning to go to MIT together.”
“Oh? So it’s Fox, then.”
Jennifer’s mom smiled knowingly.
“Enough about that, Mom. What do you think of the script? From a business perspective, would you buy it?”
“Of course, it’s a great story. But it’s rough and incomplete. Only a summary for the
next two episodes won’t do.”
“He only started studying yesterday and wrote it today. He’s a newcomer.”
“One day? Are you sure?”
“Yes, Fox is a genius. How much would you pay for the script? Maybe give an advance and a computer so he can finish it.”
“You’re really helping this ‘classmate,‘ aren’t you?”
“I just want to read the rest of the story.”
Jennifer averted her eyes, feeling slightly embarrassed.
