Chapter 19 How Does It Feel?
Fox hadn’t planned on retaliating against Jenny, though he certainly could. If he wanted, he could make Jenny’s life miserable.
Having spent time in prison in his previous life, he learned many things. His
cellmates had taught him quite a bit, and he remembered everything. Using these methods, he could bring down Jenny and her entire family.
But Fox chose not to.
After all, Jenny was just a high schooler. At worst, she was a green tea girl who liked to string people along. Her immature tactics only made Fox laugh. He had decided to stay away from her. If she didn’t cause trouble, he wouldn’t bother with her.
His new life had already begun, and he didn’t need someone like Jenny in it. He was going to MIT, and she would go to NYU. His life would only get better, and Jenny wouldn’t matter anymore. There was no love or hate–he simply ignored her.
However, now Jenny had crossed a line by accusing him of cheating.
“It is strange, though. Fox’s grades were terrible before,” someone said.
“Maybe he really did cheat. Otherwise, it doesn’t make sense,” another added.
“But Fox has been working really hard recently,” someone else defended him.
“The problem is the short time. Improving so much in just a month is unrealistic,” the skeptic concluded.
After ruling out all other possibilities, they concluded that Fox must have cheated. But that assumption ignored one other possibility: Fox was a genius. Everyone gossiped, pointing at Fox, while Jenny smiled, feeling she had unmasked him.
Fox frowned. If these rumors spread, they could affect him. Even a small chance of
that was unacceptable.
He recalled a case from his memory: a professional gamer who was banned from competitions because his past account had been flagged for cheating. Fox faced a
similar situation.
If he didn’t address it, the cheating accusation could follow him and ruin his
reputation.
Jenny probably didn’t realize the impact of her words, but they were harmful
nonetheless.

“Jenny, is it necessary to do this?” Peterson asked, frustrated. “Fox chased you for a long time, Is this how you repay him?”
Rocco, who usually would have defended Jenny, remained silent, looking worriedly at Fox. She realized things might be getting out of hand. Even she thought Jenny had gone too far this time.
“Fox, you cheated, didn’t you? It gave you a false boost. When the real exams come, you’ll be nothing. You might even plan to cheat in the big exams. We’ve known each other for a long time. I don’t want to see you go astray,” Jenny said, ignoring Rocco’s tug on her sleeve.
Fox remained calm, which infuriated Jenny even more. Accusations of cheating could easily stick, even without proof. People paid more attention to negative things. If everyone believed her, even high scores in the real exams would be questioned.
Fox thought about his options. Defending himself would be a waste of time and fall into a trap. He needed a better solution. Two lives‘ worth of experience gave him many ways to deal with a high schooler.
“Jenny, do you know the most critical part of the American judicial system? It’s the jury. They determine guilt and assess the severity of a crime based on collective wisdom. The jury is quite fascinating,” Fox began, smiling at Jenny.
“What are you talking about?” Jenny asked, feeling uneasy. Why wasn’t Fox scared? Why did he look so confident?
“Our classroom is on the second floor. If I jumped out the window and ended up in the hospital, claiming it was because of your accusations, what would happen? If I said your slander drove me to suicide, how would that look? If I took you to court and played the victim, revealing everything you’ve done to me, adjusting the story a bit, you’d be seen as mentally abusive and oppressive. With a good lawyer, you’d be in serious trouble,” Fox explained, his smile growing brighter.
Jenny’s scalp tingled. If Fox did that, her family might have to pay a lot of money, and it could even affect her father’s business. She might not be able to attend college.
“Fox, you…” Jenny stammered, eyes wide.
“Haha, just kidding. Hurting myself over someone like you would be foolish and extreme, not my style. I could simply call the police. You’ve slandered me without evidence, damaging my reputation and causing me significant distress. Jenny, how do you feel now?” Fox asked, his expression icy.
In the end, Jenny was just a high school girl. Dealing with her was too easy.
