Chapter 18 A Shameless Accusation
Fox had done his best to change the tragic events. Thanks to his notes, Lucy’s grades had significantly improved. His notes even included some of the tough questions that would appear in the upcoming exams.
Lucy had already practiced these challenging problems, ensuring she would score high. This would enable her to get into a top university with scholarships and student loans, thus altering her life.
Fox’s own tragedy had also been altered. Originally, he would have ended up in jail, his parents would have taken their own lives, and he would have wandered the
streets until his death.
His rebirth had already changed that. Since he could change his life, he wanted to help others too, starting with Lucy. He did what he could within his capabilities.
Fox also had some personal goals, which might seem trivial.
Teenage boys often have various fantastical dreams–becoming a sports star, an academic ace, or a musical genius.
Having another chance at life, Fox wanted to turn these dreams into reality. The path of music seemed quite appealing.
If he had time in college, he wanted to form a band. It wouldn’t necessarily involve copying future songs. Playing with bandmates would be fun and potentially profitable if they became successful.
Ultimately, his primary goal was to start a business and make significant money. He understood that the biggest regret in life was often a lack of money. With enough money, most problems could be solved.
Sitting at his desk, Fox noticed Jennifer wasn’t there today. She had some matters to attend to at MIT.
Being an early admission student, she was likely handling various procedures. Without her, Fox felt a bit out of place. Although they had only been together for about a month, they had become inseparable.
Fox refocused on the problems at hand. He had finished all the high school material and was now exploring university–level content. MIT was full of geniuses, and he didn’t want to blend into the crowd. Jennifer was also a genius, and Fox didn’t want to fall behind her. He had a lot of catching up to do.
Currently, the teachers were no longer lecturing. It was mostly self–study time, with

occasional reminders from the teachers. With only a few days left until the exams,
even the teachers were a bit lax.
Peterson sat next to Fox, indifferent about the exams. He had studied Fox’s notes but was now playing games on his phone. Glancing at Fox’s notebook filled with various formulas, Peterson felt a headache coming on. It looked like gibberish to him.
Peterson nudged Fox, pointing out two approaching figures. “Jenny and Rocco are coming. Be careful, buddy.”
Fox looked at Jenny, puzzled about what she wanted this time. Jenny stood before him, looking down with a hint of disdain and mockery in her eyes.
“Fox, you don’t need to try so hard. Pretending like this must be exhausting,” Jenny said with a smile. “Even if you get into NYU, I still won’t accept your confession.”
“What is she talking about? I don’t get it,” Fox said to Peterson.
“It’s normal you don’t get it. She’s talking nonsense. You’re aiming for MIT, not NYU, and you’re not planning to confess to her,” Peterson replied, supporting Fox’s stance.
“Keep pretending. No matter how hard you try, I’ll never accept it. That’s reality. Fox, don’t like you, and you won’t get in,” Jenny said, rolling her eyes, completely dismissing Fox.
“Jenny, should I remind you that in the last mock exam, I scored high? Even the teachers now believe I have a shot at MIT,” Fox calmly explained.
“That must be cheating. The real exam is stricter. You won’t have a chance. Cheating only fools yourself. When it comes to the actual battle, you’ll fail miserably,” Jenny insisted. This was the only explanation she could come up with. A month ago, Fox was a poor student. Turning into a top student in such a short time seemed impossible without cheating.
Jenny herself had good grades and aimed for MIT. She had made a significant effort in the last month but only saw slight improvement. She had given up on MIT and was now focusing on NYU. If she, a top student, only improved slightly in a month, how could Fox improve so much? He must be cheating.
“If you accuse me of cheating, show me the evidence. If you have nothing, don’t disturb my studies,” Fox said coldly.
Jenny’s accusation complicated things. It meant she was dismissing all his hard work. Moreover, MIT might consider his high school performance. As a popular student, Jenny’s slander could damage Fox’s reputation. If the label of cheating stuck, it might affect his university admission.
Thus, Jenny had become an enemy in Fox’s eyes. Previously, he had only ignored her

or exchanged sharp words. Even though she hurt him deeply, he didn’t want to target a high school girl. But now, he was genuinely angry.
