Chapter 13 One Month
Jennifer and Lucy becoming friends was beyond Fox’s expectations. In the original timeline, Jennifer was just a shadowy figure, and Lucy had died early on.
“Fox, I just want to ask, why have you improved so quickly in math?” Lucy asked, looking distressed. “I always struggle with it. Other subjects are fine.”
Fox recalled that Lucy wasn’t good at math and science, but she excelled in other subjects. She was a classic example of a student with strengths and weaknesses. After all, everyone has their own talents and shortcomings.
Fox thought deeply. If Lucy could improve her math scores a bit, she could get into a better college. High schools have a set of rules: if you get into a top university, the school provides scholarships. High schools need publicity to attract more students..
In the previous life, Lucy, with her mediocre math scores, still got into a high–level university due to her other subjects. However, it wasn’t a top–tier university. If she could bridge that gap…
With the scholarship provided by the high school, her fate could change. In her past life, she missed out on college because of financial issues and had to work to support herself. With a scholarship, her life could improve.
Then there’s the tuition issue. There are ways to solve it. Simply put, if she gets into a top university, all problems can be solved. If she says she can’t go because of money, the high school will find a way to help her, either by giving her money or helping her get low–interest student loans.
“Math, huh? Maybe I can give you some tips,” Fox raised an eyebrow. He didn’t need to do much but could still change her life. If her test scores improved a bit, everything would be fine. Coincidentally, Fox remembered the questions for this big
exam.
“Jennifer is right. Math often requires flexibility, but some problems have fixed solutions,” Fox began explaining some of his experiences to Lucy, subtly sharing information about certain questions he remembered.
Lucy frowned and started furiously taking notes. Fox knew that if she studied hard, she would achieve some results. Maybe her math skills wouldn’t skyrocket, but at least her test scores would improve.
“You can apply this method to other subjects too,” Fox continued. “How about I
make some notes for you? You can review them when you have time.” Fox decided to help her fully. He was reborn to reverse these tragedies.

Even though he had no connection to Lucy, he didn’t want to see such a young girl die. Moreover, she was Jennifer’s friend. If Lucy died, Jennifer would be heartbroken. The notes would serve as a strategy guide for this big exam.
He wasn’t just helping Lucy; he could also help Peterson. Peterson was his good friend, and if there was a chance, he’d help him too. However, Peterson’s foundation was too weak. Fox could only give minor suggestions. Peterson might not get into a top university, but with improved scores, he could certainly get into a decent college.
During summer, Fox and Peterson could earn some money to cover tuition. If Peterson found a good university in Massachusetts, they could be together.
“Thank you so much, Fox. I’ll make good use of these tips,” Lucy said, shaking Fox’s hand vigorously. Jennifer frowned at this sight.
After Lucy left, Jennifer resumed tutoring Fox. Although Fox was progressing well, she seemed unsatisfied.
“At this pace, you can get into MIT, but that’s not enough. University is about the major. Right now, you can only get into an ordinary major. Are you okay with that? If you’re going to do it, do it the best,” Jennifer said, looking at Fox with a certain expectation.
Fox scratched his chin. “What’s your major?”
“I haven’t decided. I’ll pick a major later. It depends on you,” Jennifer said, lowering her voice at the last sentence.
Fox smiled. Was she hinting that she would choose the same major as him? Having lived two lives, Fox couldn’t miss the implication.
“Then I’ll aim to pick any major and work harder,” Fox declared. A man can’t say he can’t do it. Since she had shown her attitude, how could he let her down?
It seemed like they had made an agreement. Fox became even more diligent in his studies. Time flew by, and a month had passed. The big exam was imminent, and the moment to change his fate had arrived.
“This might be our last PE class in high school,” Peterson said, dribbling a basketball and smiling at Fox.
“Buddy, can you let me win once?” he asked, faking a move, but Fox easily saw through it.
Fox dribbled the ball, charged into the crowd like a bull, jumped high, and dunked powerfully.

“OMG, he can jump that high?”
“Fox actually looks pretty cool,” the classmates murmured.
“When did you learn that move?” Peterson frowned. He and Fox were about the same height. He stood still and compared heights with Fox.
“You’ve grown taller?” he asked in surprise,
“Yeah, seems like I’m still growing,” Fox said, holding the ball, sprinting, jumping high, and performing a double–handed dunk. The rim shook from the force.
Dunking takes skill, but among American high school students, it’s not uncommon. Many on the basketball team could do it.
The key was that the person dunking was Fox. His dunking was graceful and aesthetically pleasing.
He had once been a pathetic figure, but now he was the center of attention. Jenny’s eyes lit up, and she stood up, ready to do something.
