Chapter 11 Everything as Usual
The next day, early in the morning, Fox got up and went for a jog. He decided to make it a habit to become a better version of himself.
Afterward, he rode his bike to school. As usual, he ran into Peterson. They often ended up on the same route to school.
Peterson, as always, had his nose in a book, reading as he walked.
“Not playing games anymore? Starting to read? Are you pretending to study hard to earn some pocket money and buy a new game console?” Fox joked, pushing his bike alongside Peterson.
Seeing his old friend from childhood made Fox quite happy.
In the future, they had drifted apart and lost contact, only occasionally hearing about each other through neighbors.
“Hey, no need to say it so harshly,” Peterson replied. “Can’t I try to study hard for once? Who knows, maybe I can discover my potential. What do you think, Harvard or Chicago University?”
Peterson laughed as he spoke to Fox.
“Peterson, a chef has the talent for cooking, a king has the talent for ruling. Everyone has their own destiny. Maybe you’re not cut out for studying,” Fox said, throwing an arm around Peterson’s shoulder.
“Man, that’s harsh,” Peterson complained.
“I don’t mean to hurt you. I’m just saying your talents lie elsewhere,” Fox said, grabbing the book from Peterson’s hand. He then asked a formula question that Peterson couldn’t answer.
“See? You’ve been studying all morning and still can’t remember the formula,” Fox shook his head as Peterson looked dejected.
“But why did you suddenly decide to study?” Fox asked. In his past life, this had never happened.
“It feels like you’ve changed a lot, and the gap between us is growing. You’re aiming for MIT, which sounds like a fantasy, but I have a feeling you’ll make it. I don’t want to fall too far behind you, but studying is just so hard,” Peterson admitted, scratching his head.
This was the loyal friend he knew. Once they stepped into society, friendships like
this were rare..
“Peterson, do you have any plans for further education?” Fox asked, knowing the future.
“Probably not. My parents are already thinking about getting me a job at the supermarket,” Peterson replied.
This was Peterson’s turning point, Giving up on further education and working at the supermarket, he’d eventually rise to success
“Peterson, how about this? Let’s do something together this summer to earn some money. Once we have enough, you can reconsider coming with me to
Massachusetts. I have some plans to make big money, and I might need someone like you,” Fox suggested as they reached the school gate.
“If you need help, just ask. I’ll definitely help,” Peterson agreed, feeling a bit puzzled..
“Let’s talk more during the summer. I’ll show you my skills then. You can decide after that,” Fox said, determined to bring Peterson along on his rise to success.
As they walked into the school, they saw Jenny standing at the entrance. Fox ignored her and kept talking to Peterson. Jenny was furious that Fox dared to ignore her.
“Jenny, should we get the basketball team to teach him a lesson?” Rocco suggested, feeling that Fox was becoming more annoying.
“That’s too extreme. Causing a scene won’t do anyone any good,” Jenny replied calmly. With exams approaching, she didn’t want to create any trouble.
“So you’re just going to do nothing?” Rocco frowned, disappointed.
“Fox is still my little puppy. He’s been chasing me for so long; he can’t just cut ties.
He’s playing hard to get, and it’s working well. But with a little effort, I can expose him,

Jenny said, not realizing Rocco had already walked away. She stood there,
muttering to herself, looking somewhat crazy.
Fox parked his bike and walked with Peterson towards the classroom.
“Fox, why are you carrying such a girly backpack?” Peterson teased, looking at the pink bag Fox was carrying.
Several people gave them strange looks, but Peterson, with his thick skin, didn’t mind.
Fox found Jennifer and returned the backpack to her. “What’s your plan for today? Library or classroom? By the way, I put some cupcakes in your bag. My mom made

them last night. Hope you like them.”
Jennifer, holding the backpack, first thought of studying in the library. But looking at Fox and feeling the extra weight in the bag, she thought the cookies were delicious, so the cupcakes must be good too. Since eating in the library wasn’t ideal, she decided on the classroom.
Fox and Jennifer went to the classroom. They arrived on time, and the teacher was surprised to see them together. Fox, pretending to study seriously with a book, drew the teacher’s attention.
“Fox, how do you solve this equation?” the teacher asked, calling him out.
“The answer is 24,” Fox responded calmly.
“Jennifer must have given you the answer. You can’t fool me!” the teacher said, tapping the desk.
Jennifer continued eating her cupcake, not looking up.
“I figured it out myself,” Fox said, feeling innocent.
“Then come up and show us the process,” the teacher challenged.
