Chapter 8
“Dad, Mom? Why are you here…”
I stared blankly at my parents in front of me. They were dragging a somewhat old suitcase. My mother was sitting on the suitcase and my father was sitting on the ground. When they saw me come back, they stood up together. Maybe they had been sitting for too long, my father staggered and I hurried forward to support him.
Mom reached out and touched my head and said, “You’ve lost weight.”
My eyes felt sore and I blinked quickly to prevent the tears from falling.
I put my arms around them and went into the house.
When Cody and I got married, my parents were actually against it. My mother thought that he was too cold, and my father looked down on his attitude towards me. But I was so in love with him at that time that I had to marry him despite my father’s
opposition.
On the wedding day, my father held my hand and handed me over to Cody. He said, “You must take good care of Monica in the future. She is our treasure, and I hope you will cherish her too.”
How did he answer at that time?
He looked serious, took my hand and said, “Okay.”
Maybe he was somewhat sincere at that time, but it was too cheap.
Before the seven–year itch even came, it was completely worn out.
I looked at my parents who looked a little old and said, “Mom and Dad, let’s go back to our hometown together.”
I didn’t want to stay in this city that once made me sad. It carries too much of my unhappiness, and staying here would only make me sad.
My parents seemed to support every decision I made, and the next day we packed up everything and returned to our hometown.
I inherited 40 million in assets from Cody Walker. As long as I held on to the 10% stake, I could get dividends every year. But I didn’t want to have any entanglement with him anymore, so I sold the shares at a high price. As for whether it would bring trouble to him, what did it have to do with me?
After returning to my hometown, I opened a small flower shop and named it after the nickname I had given my child.
Cody came to see me several times, but I just treated him coldly as a stranger. A few times, he happened to meet my father who came to pick me up. him, his face immediately turned black and he almost beat him out with a broom.
When my father saw Later on, he gradually stopped coming to see me, my days became more and more quiet, and the scars I had suffered were slowly healed.

opened. It turned out to be Dale who had helped me before. He was also stunned for a moment when he saw me. I put down the sunflower in my hand and smiled at him, “Dale, what do you want to buy?”
He picked up a red rose and said, “We are not a client–to–consultant relationship now. Can you give us a chance to get to know each other again? I am David Rollins.”
Perspective From Cody Walker, my name was Cody Walker, and I had been a gifted child since childhood.
Since I was young, my parents taught me to do things for my own benefit. They taught me how to deal with interpersonal relationships and how to manipulate people’s hearts, but they did not teach me how to love someone.
I was happy on the day I got married to Monica Bath, but my friends made fun of me about it. I knew they looked down on her for pursuing me. I wanted to defend myself and tell them that I chose to marry her because I liked her.
It was not an emotional thing, nor was it because my childhood sweetheart was married and had children. In fact, I didn’t care at all whether Emma was married or not. It’s just because she had a cooperation with my family that I paid more attention to her.
But after listening to these people’s ridicule, I just couldn’t say anything. If I said it, I would be laughed at, right?
I said tactfully, “We are getting married soon, why are you talking about this?”
